FAKATEKO Wins WAHO Trophy!

AECCA is proud to announce that the 2007 WAHO Trophy winner for Spain is Fakateko, son of Spain's 2005 WAHO Trophy winner Zacateco (Jacio/Baldosa) and the mare Zakateka (Marmol/Samarkanda), owned by SRH Teresa De Borbon and bred at her Flor De Lis Stud farm.
Fakateko wins thanks to his own Show points which have been added to the points earned by his daughter Braken (out of Banika), who was 2nd placed and Top 5 at the 1994 European Championships, 3rd placed and Top 10 at the World Championships, Filly Champion in Menton and in the All Nations Cup that same year - and also the dam of Top 5 World Championship winner, Gasir; his son Luksor (out of Ankara), Junior Champion in Madrid and 2nd placed in Arabes & Co in Miono, Spain, which is a mixed Show and Sports competition; and his son SS Orion (out of Daikiri), presently in the USA, where he competes very successfully both in Show and Sports events.
With these results, Fakateko earned more than double the points of his nearest rival in Spain's 2007 WAHO Trophy calculations.
As in 2006, Spain has continued with a points system to select this year's WAHO Trophy winner, taking into account both Show and Sports results of the proposed horse and up to 5 of its best placed offspring.

A special round of applause to the owners of stallions in direct descent from this very successful sire line:
*SS Orion (x Daikiri) Bred by S.A.R. Teresa de Borbon, owned by Stanley Ranch
and his sons, all bred by Stanley Ranch:
YO (*SS Orion x Pascion S) owned by Jim Porcher et al
Tobascco (*SS Orion x Pascion S) owned by Zalea LLC
Si Si Savvy (*SS Orion x Granada I) owned by Ginna Frantz

This is the second son of Zacateco to win the coveted WAHO Trophy:
2005 - Zacateco (Jacio x Baldosa)
2006 - Fiolek (Zacateco x Rejeka)
2007 - Fakateko (Zacateco x Zakateka)

PRESS RELEASE
FROM DR. HANS-J. NAGEL, PRESIDENT, WAHO

WAHO is publishing the following announcement:

This is the first time in history that the world-wide existing Arabian horse registries and their membership, the Arabian horse breeders, are united. It has taken several years of negotiations and build-up of confidence between WAHO, the World Arabian Horse Organisation and PAT, the Pure-bred Arabian Trust to agree on a solid understanding how the past and the future of the world-wide existing Arabian horse population should be handled. Both organisations have explored all aspects how the past and the future could be put on a proper road and that PAT will become again a full member of WAHO under such considerations. The authorities of WAHO are appreciating highly the positive attitude of PAHR in co-operating to make such a change possible. There is also no doubt that the Canadian Arabian Horse Registry will join WAHO again in the coming year.

The total Arabian Horse breed world-wide is therefore from now on an exclusive and closed population and will be guarded as such, hopefully forever.

From January 01, 2008 on, PAT in conjunction with AHA will be therefore the only registering authority in the US. WAHO is very pleased to have this historically old registry authority again in a full member status within its ranks. PAHR, however, will cease its activities by December 31, 2007.

Mission Statement

The mission of SAHS is to preserve, improve, and maintain the purity of Spanish blooded horses of the Arabian breed.  SAHS strives for the advancement of education for the benefit of the public, to promote and facilitate the acquisition and distribution of the knowledge, in all countries, of the history, care and propagation of the Spanish Arabian horse.

History and Progress of SAHS

Many of the founding directors were members of a group of Spanish Arabian bloodline enthusiasts and breeders who first joined forces in the 1980’s.  Due to changes in the Arabian market, and the passing of some of the leaders from that era, the group was “in hibernation” for several years.
In 2004, the Spanish Arabian Horse Society (SAHS) grew from some of those previous members.  SAHS received WAHO (World Arabian Horse Organization) affiliation on 22 October 2004 and AHA (Arabian Horse Association) affiliation on 16 November 2004.
We are members of  AECCA (Association Espanola De Criadores De Caballos Arabes) in Spain, and in August 2006 we merged with SAHBI (Spanish Arabian Horse Breeders International), giving us a true global focus for the promotion of the Spanish Arabian.
Also in August 2006, AHA recognized the Spanish Arabian as one of the bloodlines on their Education Pages.  On 18 November 2006 SAHS received the AHA Club Excellence Award for Communication, and was named the AHA Club of the Year!
